Suzanne DeBiase For over 40 years, Suzanne De Biase (formally Delaney) has been working to make change to improve the life’s and profession’s of Health Care Professionals. She recently retired after a career at UNAC/UHCP of 20 years as the Director of Representation for the Kaiser division. Her key responsibility was the development of strong leaders at all levels of the organization, because her commitment was to be sure UNAC/UHCP positively evolved to be an example and force of strong true unionism. Her commitment was driven by her passionate belief that unions historically have shaped all that is positive in America. She graduated from nursing school in Riverside, California , holds a degree in Health Care Administration and Planning and Certificate in Strategy Planning from the University of San Bernardino, and is a 2010 graduate of the Harvard Law School Trade Union Program. What is the key to success of any endeavor or new challenge? Suzanne would answer: 1) Analytical persistence 2) close observation and education 3) honestly built relationships. Most significant is she loves working with teams, formally and informally brain storming, and has a fearless approach to solving problems. Suzanne’s skill level at this was remarkably demonstrated at the 2018 UNAC/UHCP RN/PA/NP Kaiser contract negotiating table with her self-mentored leaders from across the Southern California Kaiser region and alongside her outstanding staff representative team. Upon completion drastic contract improvements were made that today serve the working conditions of thousands of UNAC/UHCP members very well. Suzanne has retired but she has not slowed down and has embraced retirement as not the end but a new beginning . She is trailblazing into a new endeavors and evaluating what her next big project might be. Currently Suzanne is now a “Potter” when she is not traveling, speaking up for any injustice, or riding her electric bicycle.
