As the UNAC/UHCP Director of Membership Engagement, Mandy leads dynamic teams of staff and member-leaders to build the collective power necessary to win and enforce the strongest possible contracts. She believes that it has never been more important – or possible – for health care workers to unite in common purpose and drive meaningful changes in how we deliver health care in our country. Before accepting her position at UNAC/UHCP, Mandy led collective bargaining, communications, and membership development for more than 52,000 members of the Health Care Workers Council of the United Steelworkers International Union. She began her tenure in the labor movement under the incomparable mentorship of Jane McAlevey from whom she learned the fundamentals of effective organizing that drive her work today. In addition to holding a dual bachelor’s degree in English and political science from Allegheny College, and a master’s degree in applied political science from American University, Mandy is a graduate of the Harvard Trade Union Program and is currently pursuing certification in Non-Profit Leadership through the Harvard Kennedy School’s executive leadership program. When she’s not building power with registered nurses and health care professionals, Mandy is busy raising two young LoveNuggets with her incredible partner in their mountain home. |
