Grievance and Arbitration Best Practices
Learn best practices for case handling starting from grievance to arbitration. The Legal Department attorneys will discuss requests for information, notetaking, arbitration preparation, and share tips and common pitfalls. There will be a participatory component to the class. Jun Lim Aside from a brief stint working for the California Department of Industrial Relations, Jun has always worked on behalf of unions since graduating from University of Oregon School of Law. She has advocated on behalf of public- and private-sector unions and as outside and in-house counsel. She comes from a family of grocery store, hotel, and postal workers and has seen how unions directly better the lives of working people. Scott Sia Scott Sia has been a worker rights advocate since his undergraduate days at UCLA, where he minored in labor and workplace studies and organized student workers for AFSCME Local 3299. He went on to become a union organizer and researcher for SEIU USWW. Scott returned to UCLA for law school and volunteered with UNITE HERE Local 11 and LGBT rights organizations GLAD and Lambda Legal. Scott was a staff attorney for the Wage Justice Center and an attorney advisor for the Social Security Administration. Scott joined UNAC/UHCP as legal counsel in 2022. Scott has many family members in health care, including his wife who is a pharmacist, and his parents who are retired ICU nurses. |
